Large Scale Central

Sunday, Fun Day!

After getting some chores done…I ran a train. I really should have gotten some work done on the layout, but it was just sooooo nice out.

Anyway, I realized a few things after running the train today.

  1. I need to weather the sd40-2 a bit. 2) I still need more of those csx bethgons. 3) It may be time to expand the mainline a little.

Those weathered gons sure look nice.

Matt…Look at time line 0:38. I swear the rails are moving up and down from the weight of the Loc. .

Neat video and look like it was a day to not do any yard work. LoL,.

Nice video, Matt… Railroad is coming along nicely… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Thanks guys!!

Noel, you are correct. Track gives a little on that curve. I don’t have it ballasted yet. I hope after I ballast it that it will still give a little, but I bet it doesn’t. The ballast seems to really lock the track down.

Good video. The railroad is looking good. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

The railroad looks great Matt . Your right , that SD40 looks real clean. I got to run my first train of the year today . Got the tracks cleaned off and ran it to find all the “bad” spots. I always end up with a couple of places that give me trouble till I work the kinks out. As of now both routes are up and running . Still have to ballast again but I love doing it. Its a annual thing I do with my nephew . He fills some hopper cars with ballast and delivers it to where its needed. I make him use my rebuilt Hartland Mighty Mack switcher for this duty. It can’t pull too many loaded USA hopper cars at once.

Thanks Mike!

Can’t wait to see some more of your videos. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I bet a loaded hopper train gets heavy in a hurry!!! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

I went back 2 or 3 times and yes you can see the track flex a little when locos pass by. Cool Video Matt, they inspire me to get going on my RR

Thanks Pete!

I have another video that shows the track flexing too. Start at the 1:07 mark
