Large Scale Central

Summer shots

I started playing around with different shots of my layout. Mainly want to find the good spots and also where I might need to fill in the background with more plants/trees so I can hide some of the background like my deck etc… The plants are slowly filling in, still have a lot of bare spots, eventually the ground cover will take over. Here are a few shots so far. I still have a lot of detail to add like some structres, weathering the rolling stock and I still have to add my siding and mine. All planned winter projects.

Going into the straight away.

Looks great, Shawn. You have done a lot of work. Now, just sit back and enjoy.

Coming along nicely.

Beautiful location!

For realistic shots, get down low. Put your camera lense right where a scale person’s eyes would be.

Your Engineer needs a Beard and glasses, your fireman needs a pony tail tucked under his hat!

Cale, and the engineer needs a stogie in his teeth!

Nahhhh, you don’t see that while you are at the station…but they do smoke on the loco while out riding around “RoundHouse Mountain”…I’m not sure Tim smokes?

Over 20 years ago, I noticed a sign in a flowerbed at the house of our children’s piano teacher:

“You are closer to God in a garden than anyplace else on Earth.”

Looking at that lovely shot with the white flowers in the foreground and the little hill in the background reminded me why I thought that sign was on the money.

There is a first line to that poem, but off hand I can’t recall the words.

I tried googling, but all the likely looking sites are not responding.

Shawn,
Really nice job. You have accomplished much in a very short time.

THE Lord God planted a garden In the first white days of the world, And He set there an angel warden In a garment of light enfurled.

So near to the peace of Heaven,
That the hawk might nest with the wren,
For there in the cool of the even
God walked with the first of men.

And I dream that these garden-closes
With their shade and their sun-flecked sod
And their lilies and bowers of roses,
Were laid by the hand of God.

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,–
One is nearer God’s heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

For He broke it for us in a garden
Under the olive-trees
Where the angel of strength was the warden
And the soul of the world found ease.

Googled. Must confess I only knew that fourth verse.

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,–
One is nearer God’s heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

That’s the part I was thinking of…Thank you Mr. Vernell
