Large Scale Central

Suburban Pacific

Tim, nice rebuild and great looking engine…

That’s a neat bash of an Annie. It turned out great.

Looks like it worked out right well

Hey, that’s a looker.

Very nice!

Wow, that really turned out great! What a beautiful loco!

Well, as a footnote, I was up early this morning running the locomotive. One of the two cats (14 month old female) was hesitant to climb a tree and was sitting on the rails, as they regularly do. Each time the train would approach the cat would move. Well, the last time the cat did not move and the cowcatcher became a ‘cat’ catcher. The train came to an immediate halt. The loco rolled on its side and all carriages derailed. The cat bolted. No cats or new locomotives were harmed during this procedure.

This is the first time a loco has collided with a cat and it had to happen with my new loco on its completed maiden run!

Ain’t that the way life goes!

Short video of loco in operation. Unfortunately, the loco draws such a small voltage/current to run, the LGB sound has trouble matching chuff (voltage dependent). Loco moves as soon as the 0.5 amp controller is ‘cracked’ the smallest amount open, even with a moderate load.

that looks like a “wanna have one too”.
how does it behave on sharp curves?

Korm,
I operate ten-foot diameter curves, but technically the loco should traverse R1 curves as the rear drive axle is closer than a stock Annie to the middle driver (shorter wheelbase) and the trailing truck (a new old stock spare part from a LGB #2080 loco from the 1970’s - check out the size of the flanges) should have enough sideways movement.

thanks.

Tim,
Very cool locomotive.
