Stupid questio.....moved from the general question area

When is it time to start planting in the North East part of North America ?

You are probably at least one USDA Hardiness Zone north of me. We feel safe here planting tender vegetation on or after Mothers Day. We put seeds in last week.

After danger of the last frost has passed is usually the rule of thumb in Michigan, sometime in May. Memorial Day weekend (last weekend in May) is always guarranted to be safe…

For us Californians of the southernmost regions planting season is in the end of fall before the rains begin. If you try to plant now theres chance your plants wixll get scorched by summer heat. Our winters are rarely very cold so it best to take advantage of the mild temps and free watering.what little there is of it.

Since Vic is “over the mountains” from us we usually don’t plant outside until April but we have gotten snow in May.

My plants are already getting scorched by this stupid heatwave. Doesnt bode well for this summer.

We were “only” 91 yesterday but most of the garden is in containers on the deck which gets a little shade. At least the rabbits and squirrels don’t get to it. Another story!
