Large Scale Central

Stuff that should be made (but probably won't be)

Never could understand why Aristo never did a Shark, uses the same trucks as their FA’s, I haven’t compared overall dimensions but I’ll bet for the most part all it would take would be a new body shell !

Re: Allegheny locomotives

  1. Rivarossi make it in H0

  2. Aster make it in Live Steam gauge 1 - there are a few kits still hanging around, it seems, also the occasional ‘for sale’.

  3. AccuCraft are bringing it out in electric and steam in gauge 1 in the next year or so.

An FP 40 or 45 would spark my interest.

Possibly for the same reason USA doesn't do a shell for the 2 that sparks Mr Boucks interest. Some know that an F40 can be made off the geep 9 platform and the SDP 45 could go off the SD40-2(and for that matter a P30CH as well) chassis?

Hi all.
Well those that like Sharks might be pleased to know there will be something in 1/29th coming out soon! A one peice body kit from injection resin with etched grills and details to be used with RTR trucks.
I am currently finishing the master pattern for a customer who will be selling them based in the UK.
Cheers
Rob

Well that's GREAT news! One more player, one more choice - the hobby ain't dead yet!

Got any pics yet Rob?
Either way very cool and I think you will have a better market for the shark than the Krauss Mafiea…or whatever that very cool last build was.

Sean, You said - “Bachmann could make one , they allready have that skidder/donkey , and as far as I know the only crane anyone makes is USAT not the same!” They can be modified to something usable.

Hey Ric -

That’s a very interesting coupler adapter on the rear of the crane. Looks like an Ozark Link and Pin pocket with a cut-down Kaydee stuck in it. Does it work well??

Works fine. Use the same design on my 2 cylinder shay and switched Craig Leigh with it all last weekend. I’ve got that for quite a few pieces of equipment. They don’t like tight curves, but who does. Dremel tool and right Kadee and it works fine.

Thanks - I did something similar with my Shay only I used an Accucraft like all my F scale stuff…

Jon,

Not looking at the Shay, but I actually think I used a couple of cut down Bachmann’s with the spring removed for it. Thanks for making me use the grey matter, it keeps me honest.

Hi all
Glad the Sharknose seems popular. It isn’t my own kit, I am just making it for a guy who wants several for his line and will make some available too.
Here is a link to the G scale site in the UK where you can see a build thread of how I am doing it.

If anyone is interested in a kit just give us a shout and I will make a note of your contact details and pass them on to him when its finished.
Hope you find it interesting?
Cheers
Rob

Nice start.

Now we know where TOC’s avatar migrated to.
