Large Scale Central

Strasburg Railroad

Diesel-electric, I believe, Joe. As originally built it was a gas-electric, 90hp, 6 cylinder…

That was the first time I’d seen it run, too. Lotta local history to that little gem…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Gee, it looks like something my railroad could use. I guess its just another entry on the “someday” list.

YEP!

Nice video. Now I’m sorry I didn’t turn left on 30 Thursday morning. Odd that the engine seems to run full throttle all the time. EBT’s Gas-Electric sounds MUCH cooler, but this thing looks really cool.

It was built In 1914 to run on the Lancaster, Oxford & Southern, a narrow gauge road from Oxford to Peach Bottom, Pa. with a branch line to Quarryville. It was changed to standard gauge when the LO&S sold it to a RR in New England after they went belly up. I’m sure it’s been up graded a bit since the Strasburg got a hold of her.

I went out there to meet Ric and Andy and got there about a half hour early and thought I’d walk around the RR to see what was going on. Came around the corner and there she was, loading up passengers in front of the station. Usually when I’m driving by the place you can see the smoke from an engine drifting up behind the buildings, and that morning I didn’t see any, so I figured nothing was running yet, so surprise, surprise!..(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
