Strange Arbrovitae Die Off

This just happened about a month ago. They were all green when I ran my final trains in late March. Not limited to just mine, nor is it affecting all of them. You can see a big dead section in the neighbor’s row and there are more at another neighbors.

I thought at first someone sprayed them with weed killer, but then I noticed the random dead areas in other rows near here.

Mites, like the ones that attack Alberta Spruce trees?
I haven’t looked it up just shooting from the hip.

Could be. Strange that they only got half of one. I lost nearly all my spruces several years ago. I usually don’t spray for bugs.

you could spray natural repellent.

take one or two leaves of tobacco, put them in a baking tray, cover with water, leave in the sun for two days ( or cook for 15 minutes) and spray the dark brown water on the plants.

nicotin is no danger to plants or soil, but kills many insects.
we used that method for many plants, including tomatoes.

We have had that problem in New Jersey. There could be a row of 10, for example, and 3 or 4 would die off. Have seen that in a lot of grouping. Neighbor across the street had so many die off, he just took them all out.
The randomness was bewildering.
