I did a couple of test runs of the Stirling with the coaches to see how the paint matched the coaches. I’ll try to get a video in here also. Not sure how to embed.
Very beautiful engine and coaches.
Doc tom
Very nice Jerry . They go well together .
Mike
Did you buy or build the coaches Jerry?
Jerry, have you found any mods to the powertrain in the Stirling that need improvements?
Greg
(guys I bought one and going to follow in Jerry’s footsteps)
That looks great. Every time I see Emily on the shelf at Caboose, I’m tempted to tuck it under my arm to do the same thing myself. Alas, I’m going to have to wait until Andy is at an age where he’ll let me take a knife to anything Thomas-related. That may be a while… All well and good; like I’m at a lack of projects right now, anyway.

A very graceful runner, I think we all agree. Needs some sound, though, Jerry. A gentle sound, that is…
Have a look at this G1 live-steamer to get some idea…

Nice, Jerry…
Thanks guys. It runs nice and smooth. Powertrain seems fine Greg. I did buy the Emily coaches. Jeremy, in the UK has a nice raised layout he runs his Stirling on. He painted his coaches to look like wood, which they really were. Video below:
Jerry , the train really does look nice , I also like the wooden clad ones but the green ones are ok .
I think that Bachmann do a good job of their semi scale stuff ; I notice the modifications you’ve done to the splashers and the smokebox front and they lift the model up away from the toy status . Seeing what you have done and indeed what others do with these “toys” gives a bit of hope and encouragement to people to try it instead of dismissing it as a toy .
I scratch build stuff but also get great fun out of doing just what you did to The Stirling .
Keep up the good work mate .
Mike
Very nicely done, Jerry… Looks and runs great…
Yes, as tac said, a gentle sound would be good…
That’s a fine looking train. That big drive wheel just looks odd though. Not in a bad way, just odd.
Thanks for sharing!
Terry
Terry, it reminds me of a side-wheel river boat. Its a cool looking “classic”
The big drive wheel is what attracted me to the project.
Jerry , you would be surprised how many people say that .
I wonder if they realise it’s cast in one piece in real life ? Imagine balancing that lot !!
Anyway , I like what you achieved , it looks very smart .
Mike
Thanks Mike,
I need to get back to it, but been working on a Big Boy.
Jerry , I hope you mean a loco .
Mike
Mike, I received the same comment a while back, when I said that I had a critter, in pieces, on my workbench.

The other day I mentioned “filler” in conjunction with publishing; the other fitting expression is “boilerplate” which
http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/boilerplate
defines in part as
In information technology, a boilerplate is a unit of writing that can be reused over and over without change.

Naturally there is a connection to steam engines.
