Steamer takes on water

I found this interesting image on another site. Unfortunately, attribution as to photographer or railroad was not given, so I cannot pass that information along. What I like about this image is the way the locomotive is reflected in the still water.

?

I think its upside down.

Good thing I have a laptop.

I’m too old for to learn yoga headstands!

'Snot upside down, yer standin on yer head!

Go have some more coffee, and stand back a few feet.

Nope still upside down;)

Easy enough to prove…

I do believe you’re right, Ron.

Still a nice picture.

It would probably look even kewler in color…

Told you!:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s a D&RGW “k” unit. I think that it’s 486, not for sure. Thats a standard 5000 gal D&RGW tank, and the location looks like the tank at South Fork Co. Only a guess tho.

I can rotate OK, but colorizing is beyond my capabilities…

You disappoint me, Bruce…

Y’all are a bunch of iconoclasts!

Ya just don’t appreciate good art, or even bad art.

Sheesh!

Sulks off into my moaning chair.

Color is easy. Correct color, not so much…

Definitely a Rio Grande loco. You can see “Grande” on the water tank.

Jon, you and Bruce are the ones who are upside down. I do like the color, though.

Looks fine from this side of the world!

Noticed this as well. Great photo regardless

That’s a D&RGW K-36.

Someone has “removed” the road number and, as mentioned above, reversed the image.

Probably an image that has been used a lot. I’ve seen many Rio Grande photos with the lettering removed and used in advertisements.

Of course the image was upside down. That was the whole point, to view the image from a different perspective.

Good Lord, are you guys that literal? Can’t you look at something and wonder, “What would it look like if I did this…?”

And no, I’m not going to take my marbles and go home, I’m still looking for half of them.

Found the real image thanks from some help on the Narrow Gauge forum:

A Richard Steinheimer Image of K-36 #481 at Antonito in 1961. And I was wrong. The lettering was not Photoshopped out. She just looked like that.

And yes Steve I’m this literal
