Steam Sawmill Stills

Hi all,
I posted this elsewhere but thought it might be enjoyed here as well.

In our little backwater of the world we are lucky enough to have the only all steam powered saw mill, sawing for production and profit in the United States. It has a fascinating history dating back to the 1890’s and has been in continious operation since, by the same family, first as a water powered mill and later as a steam powered operation.

I have been working for about two years putting together the history and current operation in book form. Now an effort is being made to put it all on film in DVD format. The YouTube link below is a series of stills and short film clips that we did so that the film maker could get a feel for the place.

Anyway I hope you enjoy the show.

Very cool!! We run a much smaller saw at our club up in Illinois with our traction engine or any one else who wants to belt up to her. Yours truly at the controls.

Rick that is really great, I’d love to get my hands on the old Ford truck at the begining of your photo’s. It would be fun to see this mill running.

Wow! A living, working, breathing museum…cool!

Pretty neat, Rick.

Absolutely fantastic!
(except for that quad …  )
Don’t let OSHA see those blades. They look scary…
