Steam Planing Mill (video clip)

Hi Guys,
We spent Thursday morning up at the Phillips Brothers steam saw mill. On this morning they were running the planing mill to surface out a load of Pine and Cedar on it’s way to becoming parts of a high end custom home in Lake Tahoe, CA.

My Brother-in-Law did a bunch of filming and put together this YouTube clip for your enjoyment.
Thanks for taking a look.

Rick,
That was a great video, very nicely done. I really enjoy watching old steam power do what it was designed to do…work… as opposed to being a static display.

Very neat

Rick,
Your brother-in-law has a gift for video presentation. See you Sunday. Bill

This mill was built before OSHA, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

That is just too cool. I bet they create some beautiful lumber too.

Thank you, that was most interesting. A part of the over all saw mill operation many don’t model. Steve, OHSA who? And here I thought it was in the south some place.

OSHA. As we said in the Risk Management business, Our Savior Has Arrived. :stuck_out_tongue:

What a wonderful, atmospheric, video. A joy to watch over and over again I am sure.

What surprises me is that it still exists and operates.

Many thanks for sharing.

Awesome! 1080p HD too

That, Sir, was one of the very best videos I’ve ever seen on YouTube. The play of light and shade through the steam was masterful. This is a lesson to anybody on how to make a movie out of a fascinating subject into a piece of art.

Best

I really enjoyed watching Live Steam is here to stay.
Thanks for posting.

I finally have the hardware in-place to watch this in 1080p HD on a large monitor. Nothing short of stunning. Thanks again for posting.

Bob - Can you move this thread over to videos ?

Great video! Brings back fond memories.
