ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - All aboard. Here’s your chance to go on a steam engine excursion.

Norfolk Southern has teamed up with two railroad organizations for the 21st Century Steam excursion trips this Spring.

Train enthusiasts will have the chance to ride on the steam locomotive NKP 765.

That same engine came through Central Pennsylvania last summer.

The excursion will take place on May 25, 26, and 27.

The rides go from Lewistown to the Horseshoe Curve.

More details can be found from the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society.[/quote]

Just thought I’d share the info with you all. Three days of steam excursions up and over Horseshoe Curve!

NEWS UPDATE!

Got the schedule and ticket pricing info.

Fort Wayne Historical Society has published ticket information on their website for the three day-long excursions which will depart Lewistown, travel west to Horseshoe Curve and return to Lewistown. During the trip, there is scheduled to be a 2.5 hour layout in Altoona to allow passengers to visit the Railroader’s Memorial Museum.

Lets show these people that this is an awesome idea and support the move. Unfortunately, I’ll be working so I don’t expect to be able to enjoy any of the trips. After NS held me out of service last year, I have to work hard this year to try and recover financially.

For those of us who wish to view the loco at Horseshoe Curve, how can we find out the time it will be at the curve?

Dan, I think its gonna have to be one of those “plan to be there for the day and catch it when it shows up” things.

I’m planning to make the trip to see this.

It’s going to be great.

Ralph, you aren’t the only one!

Yup!..
