Steam Oil

I expect this subject has been discussed previously… but here goes anyway. Where is the best/cheapest place to get steam oil? All I seem to be able to find are tiny, expensive containers of the stuff. I generally bum some at steamups for a run or two, but now I am running at home and need my own supply. Many TIA! ~ Rik

I bought mine from Accucraft…

They also sell it buy the case of 12 bottles for $55

I’m sure the live steam aficionados may have better and cheaper sources, but I didn’t think that was a bad price

PM Research sells it by the pint and quart.

Accucraft sell it for $5 (Kens ink) It will go a Long way for one small bottle or you can get the qt from arsito (wholsesale trains sells it) It is expensive for what you get but you dont need much. The butan cost a lot more.

We’ve bought things like that at York, so you don’t have to pay shipping. A whole lot of the cost is in the shipping.

Plus it fits in the extra drink holder in the van since Andy fills the rest of it with his purchases!

I always wondered why he bought so many grain hoppers. I found out last year why. That's all you see running on RR's out in Illinois...............

Best oil to use is Green Velvet. I also use their pin and bearing oil which is called PBJ. They are reasonable and it goes a long way.

Try Green Velvet Cylinder Oil
