Back when I was young, in the 1960s, my pal’s father worked as a VP for the railway, and they (apparently) got first dibs on disused railway stations. He bought Constable Burton station. Not sure what they are up to in this photo, but behind the platform buildings was the attached stationmasters house - you can see the peaked roof. No electricity! We spent some fun weekends there.
Those are pretty cool. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)And the ironwork on that crane at Constable Burton Station is eminently modelworthy.
I like those old English stations.
That crane is really neat.
Near me is a small station that was moved when the line shut down and turned into a beach cottage.
In a town near where I grew up is a station that has been converted into a Burger King. They used to have a overhead LGB train running bust despite the plexi glass protection kids still threw enough french fries up there to cause too many problems so the train was stopped.
Gee, and the P&CS passenger station/covered platform, reportedly became a chicken coop. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)
There’s a stone station on the old Reading line that went from Wilmington to Coatesville that’s been turned into a Veterinary Hospital.
I used to have a picture of it, but I’ll be damned if I can find it now.
wouldn’t be this would it? Pocopson Veterinary Station
That be the one, Forrest.
Used to be a couple of Reading F-3’s(?) across the street that some guys from the Reading RR historical Society were restoring. Last I saw those they was in Strassburg.
