Start of a rustic sawmill bill

Another cold snowy day here on Cape Cod, thought I’d try my hand at a sawmill.Shown is what was accomplished today with materials on hand.

Good start. A sawmill is on my list of to-do’s as well. I’ll follow this and get some tips.

Darn- I lost the text from the above post!!!Frown I spent a good part of the day trying to find the modeler and his webpage (unsucessfuly) of the mill I’m roughly copying. (See 2nd attached photo in my last post) As the prototype of the lifting apparatus I’m modeling is in Boston, and I have no photos of it here, I moved onto the conveyor system to move the logs thru the mill to the blade. It became readily apparent the either the mill should of been wider or the log will have to be moved on the outside3 for the second and subsequent passes. This may require a rethinking of the office placement. As this is even less then a “napkin” build, keeping the process of moving the logs from the pond to and thru the mill to the resulting lumber and staging for shipment in a efficient and logical manner is a goal of the design.

If anyone knows whose table top mill is pictured in the 2nd photo of my last post- Please let me know, so he can be credited. thanks…
