Stafford Virginia area?

We will be visiting one of my wife’s daughters in Virginia the week of May 12th.

While my wife is looking forward to baby sitting her one year old grand daughter I am looking for other things to do.

Are there any hobby shops or scenic railroads anywhere near or around the Stafford area that could keep me busy?

Parks /zoo’s, LSC member railways, anything!

Thanks,

Vinny

Bruce is an hour north in Burke.

Sure thing! Looks like I’ve got some stuff on Wednesday May 11, and Thursday May 12, but the rest seems open.

If you don’t mind driving on I-95! Come on by.

And we’ll get Ken down as well!

I think we may be even closer to you Bruce. We will actually be in Woodbridge, near the Potomic Mills Mall. If you will be around on Friday the 13th maybe we can hook up and I can check out your railway.

And bring your glasses, we’ll hand you a manifest and give you hands on instruction on how to operate.

I do, but I use 301 to 50 so I’m only on 95 for about 30 miles.

(ps: and I am keeping score Bruce, how many times I’ve been down to your place vs. how many you’ve been up to mine. I’m starting to get a complex…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif) )

I guess my strategy is working! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

OK. I’ve got Friday penciled in on the calendar…

Woodbridge is a lot closer than Stafford!

Great, I will send you a message with my cell# on case anything comes up. Plus I will need a address!

So far we are still a go on arriving in Virginia on Thursday the 12th.

And my plans are still free to visit the Jackson & Burke railroad on Friday the 13th if it will be open!

Yes, although we may have to dodge some raindrops. I’ve been trying to get outside to work on it, but the rain has been winning. So, expect some derailments. (Well, you can probably expect them even IF I had worked on it.)

Send me an email Bruce, as a reminder, a couple days before. You know how us old guys get…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Oh great… who’s going to remind me?(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Your caregiver…Jean…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I’ve found that when my mind walks off completely, if I’ve left a trail of “Post-it” notes, I can find my way out of the forest. I stole the idea from Hansel and Gretel, a finer pair you’ll never meet.

I’ll try to keep that in mind. If I remember…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I will have to try that, since the breadcrumb trail idea didn’t work.

But, honestly, my mind is too small be let wander on its own. And me, one of my coworkers actually asked me if I was allowed out without adult supervision.

So whats the forecast looking like for Friday?

We should be headed south late tonight / very early AM tomorrow so we can make it to Penny’s daughters graduation from college tomorrow night.

Doesn’t look good, Vinny, so I’m going to play it by ear.

Bring a raincoat! But, I’ll be here. (What college?)
