St. Aubin Estate Auction

Not that I have anything to spend…in light of recent post on MLS, I considered this of interest to some?

ESTATE AUCTION COMING SOON:

Pat Sullivan’s passion for the hobby was not only the catalyst for his St. Aubin stores. Pat also accumulated an extensive personal collection of rare and desirable train products by LGB and Marklin. In fact, he began collecting years before he entered the retail marketplace. Time permitting, Pat would frequently invite Illinois store customers upstairs for a personal tour of his private stash. The collection is now the property of Pat’s estate. Beginning Monday evening, June 18th , and weekly thereafter, on-line auctions will be initiated allowing those interested to view and bid on selected items from the collection. You will find a web link to the auction venue here, beginning Monday. The auctions are being administered by a qualified, independent appraiser who will be identified at the auction site. Please address related questions to that individual using the contact information that will be provided on Monday. For those who may wish to interpret this process as a signal of impending doom for the stores, sorry to disappoint you. We are alive and well. We only wish that Pat could be too. Thanks, and good luck.

Jon"

That's odd. I always thought G-d wound a string around one of the poles and gave a hearty tug, and we've been spinning ever since. With a wobble, yet. As to why Poles spin, I would not venture to hazard a guess. Maybe a lunar influence.

Are you kidding?!? More likely too much Vodka!

They are fighting tooth and nail to get Vodka declared a national treasure that can only be destilled from potatoes and grain i.e. none of that funny stuff from the Scandinavians. Had a good chuckle when that was on CBC Overnight.

…good old CBC Overnight.

I only wish the daily programming on CBC 1, was up to the standards of “Overnight”.

In a mad rush to attract “The younger listener”; CBC has trashed it’s programming to the point of stupidity.
“Overnight” is the last bastion of intelligent listening.

Of course we still have CBC 2, with a wide range of music, but even it has it’s hours of trash.

This is our version of "Public broadcasting", up here in the "Eclectic Circus", called Canada !!!!

…or is it just a “Circus” of clowns, dressed for a sleep in Ottawa, while calling themselves “Government”…!!!

Well it does give us cause to listen to the CBC News where they will be having a great "Newsday" on Friday with the "Natve Protest" that will close down major highways in Ontario, and for "Rail Content" for this forum....they will be blockading the main Canadian National (HH will hate me forever, as he has declared the railway NOT to be Canadian any longer and just CN.) line between Toronto and Montreal.

Young Chris, as an editor with a local newspaper will probably be working overtime, and miss his date with his back yard pike on what is working up to be a wonerfully SUNNY “CANADA DAY WEEKEND”, up here where we still know how to party, in spite of ourselves !!!

“HH” is Hunter Harrison, the imported Canadian National Railways, CEO. He was formally head of IC down thar in the lower regions of the US of A, and was sort of “Part of the package” when Canadian National bought Illinoise Cantral, a number of years ago.
He wishes he could move corperate headquarters to the US, but is prevented by old rules from when the CN was incorperated and run as a Canadian Government operation.
Truely NOT one of Canada’s local heroes…!!!

Down here, the Great Northern Pacific and Santa Fe is now officially just called the BNSF, whatever the hell that means!

Iconoclasts!

Quote:
Great Northern Pacific and Santa Fe
No....Actually, it was the Merger of BURLINGTON NORTHERN and the Santa Fe RR. The Northern Pacific merged with the Chicago, Burlington&Quincy, The Great Northern & The Portland, Spokane & Seattle in the early 1970s to form Burlington Northern...

Many here in this area refuse to recognize the existence of that other…ummm…railroad…the one in green…:?

Warren in Hillyard WA

The original name of that green abomination was, “The Great Northern Pacific and Burlington.” This was before word processing, macros, and so on. The secretaries were ready to go on strike over having to type that long name each time… The rest is history. It will forever be, “The Great Northern Pacific,” to those in the know.
