SPRINGS COMING!

Just sent the wife off to a party at 6:18 pm CST. 37 degrees, geese are flying like crazy preparing for the trip North. The sky is full. It is suppose to be 60 degrees here on Sunday. Sunday, that is in March. Jan’s birthday, in case you want to send here a birthday greeting.

It always snows after her birthday, but we fire up the pond pump and stream to let us know Spring is coming.

Woke up a 4 am this morning in Ruther Glen, VA., temperture gauge on the dash said 18 degrees. Got to the Flying J in Northeast, MD about 7:30 am to fuel up, it read 21 degrees. When I left Lakeland FL on Tuesday afternoon it was 81 degrees there. If spring’s comin, I wish it would hurry up…

Was thinking the same Ken, Spring is months away here. This is Middle of WInter doldrums!

50’s and 60’s here in the corn cob state, say its going to be 70 degrees saturday!!! back to the 30-40s next week 2-3 ft section of track still under ice hopefully by tomorrow mid morning be a runnin trains by tomorrow afternoon hope i hope i hope! Will be a plowin right after and a plenty after any future snow storms!! before snow gets hard, or icy…

After a week in the 100s, it’s down around 90 today - sorta coolish!

Fall will pass, then winter will come, with nary a snowflake in sight. Ice? The only ice we’ll have to put up with will be what the impious and unrepentant insist on contaminating their Scotch with!

Just checked: it is 4ºC in the sunny Okanagan at 7AM. Yesterday I had the “pleasure” of instructing during yet one more snowstorm up on the mountain. Keep it snowing, Winter isn’t done yet!

finally ice and snow melted off completely from my entire backyard layout today 2/29/08 and i finally got to run my two dash 9s completely around the whole backyard! If you would like to view a video of both runs click on the link below, and then on the you tube link, it will take you right to 18 videos i’ve made two yesterday! The Norfolk Southern is battery and airwire (no sound) and the dash 9 B.N. heritage 2 is sound and airwire runnning on track power!! enjoy, and thanks for looking “SPRING HATH SPRUNG”

03/01/08 - Carlyle, Illinois - reattached the stream hose and filter to the pond pump. Water is flowing. 43 degrees at 1030. Suppose to get in to the 50’s this afternoon and maybe 60’s tomorrow. We still have piles of snow/ice on the ground, but the warmth is in the air and the sky is full of geeses, everyday as they train for the flight north.

03/01/08 - New Fairfield, CT: 4 inches of snow overnight following 3 days of bone chilling temps. This morning at 11:00 EST I shoveled my walk and cleaned off the car in a T-Shirt and slippers. Its 45 degrees and sunny  If the roof wasn’t pouring down melt water onto the tracks I’d run the Spring Thaw Plow Extra. Maybe tomorrow if there’s anything left to plow.

Hmm – Just looked out the window. Sunshine has turned to a snow squall :o

Interesting video on top, Jerry. Did you stop the plow because of ice, or did you think the snow was too high?

Two to four inches forecast for last night turned out to be at least twice that :( We had to go out today, but the neighbours (God bless 'em in whatever language, even Welsh) had shovelled our driveway by the time we got back, including the windrow left by the **** street plow. More snow due next week, after freezing rain (#!%&***!)

03/02/08 - Sunday 0617 - Carlyle, Illinois - 48 degrees. Forecast for tomorrow is high of 34 degrees with sleet and freezing rain. Spring is coming, it tain’t quite here, yet.

Yea…about 18 days to go yet…

70’s here in Texas bad storms forecast today, maybe tornados !

Back to snow and cold here again 3/2/08 goin to get out the old dash 9 and plow tracks clear again. Learned my lesson last time “Get out early and plow and keep plowin to keep the line open BEFORE snow gets hard or icy” Typical weather here in corn cob state 70 degrees Sat 20s and snow here today!!!

Waiting for the good weather again!!! just added another video on you tube plowin snow 1 day after 70 degree weather! Typical Nebraska weather!

Terry,

Jan got the greeeting and came to me with, “Do you know some guy named TAC?” I started cracking up and her only statement was - “Oh, one of them”. Hope you had a good birthday, also.

Almost forgot…Happy Birthday, Jan…

Happy Birthday, Jan!

Sometimes I think March is the worst month. just when the temps get warm you think ah Spring is here. Then the next day you get a foot of snow. Im still waiting to get started onmy layout outdoors. I havent seen the grass since late Nov. Hopefully a few more weeks and the snow should be gone and the ground hopefully will be thawed. Cant wait to get started.
