Well, most of the snow is off the trackwork, with the exception of a foot still around Majestic. Lots of winter damage, at least two switches wrecked. Ugh.
I finally got all the snow off and a troublesome curve releveled, and then it went and snowed again!!! “Spring” in Colorado, harumph. More like Winter and Summer in a battle for supremacy.
Not too much in the way of damage over the winter, though I’ve still got to bring some buildings in for a bit of refurbishment.

As of 5PM today after two days of bright sun and 60+ temps, I had about 1/4 snow shovel full left on my yard. I’m amazed how fast those huge piles melted away. The track survived better this year than last. 100% operational after sweeping away lots of debris. Ran two trains the evening after work. Had to quit though because the crew was caught drinking on the job.
Oh Jon they were just doing a little celebrating because they could go out and run a train.
I didn’t fair too bad. Have 6 washout areas. 3bad and 3 not too hateful. I’ve been working on them the past few days and now only have 2 of the bad areas left. I still have the lower loop to clear, but I think we’ll be able to run trains on sunday the 27th
Filled 3 trash bags with pine needles and droppings from the Spruce trees. It’s a little chilly, but not bad today. Can’t decide if I should run the LS loco, tinker with the expansion, or light a fire in the fire pit and drink some beer
One good thing about all that rain two weeks ago. It thawed the ground quickly - so no “mud season” this year. I can actually walk around in thr yard and not sink.
Fire pit & beer.
That’s where I’m leaning Randy !!! Got to burn up all the tree droppings. [From the hardwoods, not the spruce needles]
We are expecting about two feet of snow tomorrow afternoon, so outdoor projects may halt for a couple weeks.
I have a newly-repaired LGB engine to get back on the tracks but it’s windy and cool today, Construction on the ore chute is progressing at least.
John that rotary that you have been talking about, maybe it’s time to build one…ouch 2’ of snow. Not nice.
Doug, the weather man says we may get significant gusts… batten down the hatches on the railroad out there!!
Up here in coastal N. California we are having high winds with gusts up to 50 mph. The storm is driving hard rain and occasional hail. Temperature is 46 degrees with really high water in all the creeks. Predictions have the current conditions lasting at least through Monday. Then a break for a day or so, then more rain. Winter is definitely not over here!!
Happy (soggy) RRing,
Jerry
I already have one building on the layout that needs major repair. We’ll see if the other buildings survive along with the roofing of my other buildings on the property! I’ve fixed one three times in the past couple of years!
I finally had clear track all the way to Bovill, then woke up to 3 inches of snow this morning.
Fortunately, it was all gone by 1300 this afternoon.

But it is only 0330 right now so you can see 10 hours into the future. Man your good.
Temp in the 70’s the day before followed by cloudy cool day yesterday and now a winter weather advisory for me

We’ve had a delightful weekend, sunny and warm. All track clear – not that I’ve had any time to get a train out
Two to four inches of snow forecast for Monday
Just in time to go back to work after a week off, so it’ll match my mood exactly
Chris…well your track may all be clear, but a lot of mine isn’t quite…!!
It was a beautiful day, but not as warm as you might be suggesting to our more Southern friends…it never got above +5C, here in Ottawa, and it is going down as I speak, towards a nasty -7C this fine night. The melt is going well, and the 4 -6 inches of snow that we are supposed to get, should please some Spring skiers, but is hopefully the last kick at the tin can…maybe it will mostly be rain if it hits us by the time we reach tomorrow’s high of +5C…
Did some leveling and grading today then ran some trains with my son. He put his Bachmann Tweetsie set on the one main and I put my Amtrash stuff on the other main. We sat on the deck each with T.E in hand , burped, farted and discussed trains, baseball and girls with cooties including mom. It was a good day!
