I’ve been out to the Botanic a couple times. The railroad garden is still pretty dead looking. A crocus:

Sorry for the double post but the picture was too large on first one trying to change caused double post. “You get the picture?”

Ran around a bit last Saturday. Built a train to find where I needed to work on some switches.

I could shoot a few pics of weeds…nice guys

Lookin good, Bruce!

I’m only about half an hour from Bruce but all progress has been halted by a deadly cherry blossom invasion

Young Mike O’Malley, my son…just get out your leaf blower and blow all that stuff into a pile, then use your snow blower to throw it over the fence into your neighbours’ yard…problem solved.

Sit back with a good bheer and watch the railroad do whatever it is doing !!!!

Alas my wife, an otherwsie reasonable woman, is deeply hostile to leaf blowers. Every Autumn I get a replay of "those things are so noisy/raking is good exercise/They smell/I can’t stand…etc. etc. I have to skim them off the pond and probably just wait for the rest to turn to compost

Then deal with the maple seedlings that will start in a couple weeks

My wife does all the town planning and structure placement. We’re re-doing the whole thing with new buildings and new plants

I use an electric. It’s a lot quieter and doesn’t smell. I just bought a battery operated one which is even quieter and is great for cleaning off the track.

I have the same problem with the cherry petals. Just mowed through them and it really clogged up my mower. Guess they were too wet.

Great pictures so far. Keep them coming.

ONe of my Commanding Officers, a dour Scott if ever there was one, would play the pipes on the deck behind the pilot house.

One afternoon I was standing Bridge Watch as Conning Officer with a Warrant Officer who had started out as a cabin boy with Noah on the old Ark.

We were watching the Captain playing the pipes, in between scanning the sea ahead for obstacles, when he leaned over to me and said, “Doc, how do you tell the difference between pipes well played, and pipes poorly played?”

I did not have an answer.

It’s greening up nicely. Still need to replace a lot of the mulch with more plants.

Spring scene? Real Spring is when these guys finally wake up! A bit late this year and then they still had to put up with more snow.
