Spring Running - Post your pictures here

OK - I’ll start. I don’t have the tunnel cleared of leaves yet, but I did run the longest FN3 train ever to attempt to climb the grade. It didn’t make it, but I coaxed it far enough for a photo op…

The shorter consist did make it up to Northville, then backed to Pine Summit, but couldn’t turn due to debris in the tunnel.

Nice shots Jon. Now you gave me an excuse to run this week.

I was looking for an excuse, too.

Jon,

Great pics! How much of the failure to pull do you think was attributed to the extreme drag of the 1:20.3 equipment? I’ve wanted to convert entirely to Fn3 stuff, but struggle because it drags so bad.

Weight on the steep grade, drag and curvature all contribute. Some of my FN3 cars roll pretty good, while others drag horribly. Someday I’ll try and solve that. I did remove the power pick-ups from the caboose which improved it a lot.

Even on the flat, the single 45 Tonner struggles with 11 cars through the balloon track. It never stalls, but begins to slip and eventually just spins.

I think I need to devise a test track; a 5 foot straight set on a 1% grade. If a car will not free-roll down that it gets worked on. Now I just need the staff to implement such a plan

Jon, Those are new cars being delivered to the customers, right?

Not a great picture, but here’s one from last Friday afternoon:

You can almost make out the mallet pilot on the front of the mikado.

The K found 2 switches that it didn’t like. Same ones I think Andy was having problems with. Ran the Annie through them a few weeks ago and they didn’t have a problem.

Nice. Looks like you managed to find a few of those high hood SD-45s. Do you run 'em long hood forward? I modded the interior on mine to turn everything around.

I managed to get some running in today. After some thunderstorms earlier today the sun came out and the temps hit 64 degrees. I took the porter with some HLW ore cars. Sorry for all the pics I could never decide what ones to use. i did delete about 20 or so shots.

Not used to seeing an ore train on your pike Shawn

Oh, I forgot, I have another kind of running I did on March 17:

Hoping to break 30:00 for the 5 miler I have next Saturday. And don’t worry. I didn’t let any of the girls beat me. Here’s me at the start of the race, up on my toes, off to the left. The girl on the right was pretty fast, but she still didn’t catch me…

Fair enough as it follows the thread topic…
Good Luck Mark!

Well you know if you see me running, you know the prune juice is woking…

Well I do need to work on the track! Boy I thought one RDC was bad! Sean

You probably already know, but if you are looking for side-to-side issues on curves, those RDCs will find them for you. Lookin’ good though

39 degrees F and Snowing, here in Beautiful Downtown Deer Park. WTF???
