For those that are interested in the Ironwood, Peter’s Pond and Western Railroad, here in Ottawa; I issue this short report.
With the help of several dedicated crews of members of the OVGRS operating group, all the Spring clean-up has been done, and upgrade projects have started.
We have a crew involved in installing a “Working” signal system at one location on the railroad. Not one that just changes lights when a train goes by, but one that actually is part of the operating control system, and is controlled by the dispatcher. Lighting will be slowly introduced to some stations and industrial sites too, over the course of the Summer.
Upgrades to the roadbed at Spruce, should get done in the next two weeks, and possibly a new station will be located at that place too.
The new canopy has been put up, and a new protective wall, replacing a tarp is to be built. The old BBQ seems to be ready for another year. The noon menu on Saturdays is to be upgraded to good Sausages, from plain hot dogs. Bheer will still be featured, for those that enjoy it…!!..in moderation.
9 goldfish seem to have survived the Winter, and seem to be taking nourishment. This coming week should see the buildings taken out of storage, and the town of Craigleigh opened up to daylight once again.
Operations should start on the Saturday of May 14th, or 21st, weather permitting.
Further up-dates will follow.
