Bit of a doozy, that, eh, Fred?
Band of thunderstorms rolled through here this evening, dumped a load of hail and buckets of rain. At one point it was coming down so hard it bounced right over the edge of the eavestroughs. Good thing it started after we got back in from church.
Found a fair little brook under the washer in the basement, running to the floor drain. At first I thought the washer had given up the ghost (it’s around 15-20 years old, IIRC), but then I looked farther and found a trail of dampness coming down the front wall. Can’t be sure where it came through unless I take down the wallboard and insulation that covers the upper part of the concrete wall, and I dinna want to do that. First time anything has leaked there in 25 years (which is how long we’ve owned the house).
Some damage to our potted plants, but with luck they’ll bounce back.
How fared the IPP&W? Is Peter’s Pond now the Champlain Sea reborn?
No problems here, Chris…all is well
Fred Mills said:'Tis good. I feared some of the Jigstone buildings might have taken a pounding. We have leaves and twigs down all over the place; the neighbour's maple got thoroughly beaten up. Our hostas are looking a bit shot up, as well. We'll wait for it all to dry out and sweep it away.

That same storm blew through here late Saturday afternoon. Rained and blew like crazy for about 20 minutes - just a little hail. I spent most of Sunday picking up debris. Nothing big, but small branches with maple leaves all over the place. One big branch did finally come down in a gust on Sunday and fell only a few feet from where I was working.
Still - it was nothing like that near tornado the invaders sat out on our way to North Bay a few years ago.
Glad no one has any serious damage.
I talked last night to my dad–he got clobbered by the storm on Saturday. Golf-ball-sized hail brought down seemingly every leaf and small branch in the woods, and did a fair amount of damage to the buildings on the railroad. Cinderella’s Castle looks now looks like the evil step sisters have laid siege to it. The cement buildings seemed to hold up fairly well, but the older Pola buildings are in need of roofwork. This, after their basement flooded two weeks ago, trashing anything less than 2’ off the ground. (The trains, fortunately, are stored higher.)
Of course, all that hail and debris didn’t stop the operating session the next day. Operations were limited to just the upper part of the railroad because that’s all the track they could clear, but trains did run.
Later,
K
They’re talking heavy rain again today. Sophira has a water leak among the vents in front of the windshield, and still isn’t dried out from Friday.

Same out here, doesn’t matter … they talk about rain, I just keep working at it til it actually rains. Hasn’t so far today.

Hey Tom, looks like your sky is falling! (Just couldn’t resist. )
Now there’s this strange bright light in the sky! Bright enough to cast shadows! What are we coming to?
