Large Scale Central

Spektrum DX5e 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum Radio

2nd test under steam (indoors) was 100% successful. I managed to get the servo horn positioned properly so stick center is neutral. With the corrected bind procedure I was also able to get the fail-safe properly programmed to go to neutral. I tested the fail-safe by setting the engine into motion going forward (within easy reach) then powered off he transmitter. The loco immediately went into neutral and stopped dead. Perfect

Range doesn’t seem like it will be any issue at all with the antenna just poking out of the wood load.

Control is more than adequate. Good enough for switching   With the throttle open 1/3 turn I can go from dead stop, to crawl, to moving right along in fairly smooth steps.

A very happy camper I am.

Rain is supposed to stop overnight with a dry and mild day tomorrow. Assuming I can get the rest of the line plowed I’m planning a steam extra for late on Christmas day.

Jon,
Here’s a very good resource for RC equipment. RCGroups is extremely active and if you submit a question the the forums you’ll probably get an answer very quickly.
I haven’t used the new 500 receiver yet. Though we’re anxious to try them as the 6100’s have a noted problem in that when they sense low voltage their reboot time is on the order of up to 3 seconds. While this is happening you’ve got no control. This might not be too bad with model RR’ing but when flying its disasterous . Ah but this is a different story.
Hope you have great success.
