Spam and other "Blessings"

Hi all,

It is always interesting to see what develops when one decides to leave the Online company of a group of people.

Basically there are three categories:

a) those who could accept one as a contributor, with all the blemishes and warts most of us have.

b) those who really appreciated one’s contributions, even then when their opinion differed.

c) those who couldn’t stand one’s opinion nor the guts to state same in clear terms.

And what has all of this to do with SPAM?
Well, chances are that there will be communications from the three categories.

group a) may send their regrets

group b) will send encouraging words and inquire as to the whereabouts, along with posting their opinion in the remaining group’s forum.
This has interesting results, as some people found out. Sorry guys!

group c) will find it great fun to register one’s email address with various and sundry (mostly unsavoury) websites in order to increase the SPAM flow. They may also take matters a step further and send some email (always under an alias) complete with attached Klez Worm attachments.

Soooooo, a few precautions prior to making the break will pay big dividends. Here are some:

…make sure your AntiVirus software is on auto-update and working flawlessly.

…change your private email address asap and/or have a well functioning Anti-Spam program in place.

…if you have several computers use the least essential machine to receive your email.

…keep your cool. Most of the people who fall into group c) have neither the staying power (short attention span) nor the tech savvy to sustain their efforts.

Regards

HJ

PS Yes, been there, done that! Too busy to print a T-shirt right now. :-)))
