I’m not even going to try to embed a Flickr video, so here it is, enjoy.

Perhaps someone who has more patience than I can embed it.

Looks like 8mm film with the camera running at silent speed (16fps?) as all the people are slightly sped up. Nice to see the big girl in action.
I noticed how plain the tender looks in that film. I wasn’t able to make out the all important (to some folks) rivets on the tender body.
Really nice film.
Nice Thanks for posting.
That thing is massive! I like that centipede tender. Nice find, Cool video.
This video got me to thinking. Does an articulated engine such as this have two throttles? Two Johnson bars? etc?
That is an interesting thought Joe. Those are great photos!

From what I recall when checking out the Alleghany at the B&O museum, I don’t remember seeing 2 of each in the cab. But don’t quote me on that. All I really remember is the firebox being about twice the size of my living room…
I would guess “NO”. I would think that the two engines would be “synced” together. Getting one way out of kilter with the other could make for potential damage. One in reverse, and one forward. One with full power and spinning and the other lugging it down. One with a long open timing and the other with short, sending pressure pulses thru the super heaters. and Etc.
Just my thoughts.
As I recall they only have one set of controls. Now some articulated engines do have a control to set them from compound to simple for starting out.
