Southern Railway 4501

The Southern Railway 4501 made it’s first public excursion on the historic Chattooga & Chickamauga line since it’s restoration was completed.
The Southern 4501 and the Southern 630 will pull a doubleheader from Chattanooga, TN. to Summerville, GA. on November 8th.
Unfortunately, I’ll be in Nashville that weekend. And my wife would kill me if I left for the day

Love that whistle…

That area I would like to visit again, not just for the train but both battlefields.

Been to Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain, but didn’t get to see Chickamauga.

Well, c’mon down.
I’ll be going again. Either the weekend of Oct. 18th, 25th or Nov. 1st.
I’ll be waiting for the weather report the Thursday before.
The train runs Saturday. We could do the battlefields Sunday.

Thanx for the invite, Ralph. I’ll be out at Andy’s on the 18th, I have an open house here on the 25th and another at a friends house on the 1st…

Wow…I thought my schedule was busy

The second video from last Saturday.
This one from Lafayette, Georgia.
Again, plenty of whistle action.

…winking…

The weather is wet & cold here today.
So it has given me some time to upload a few videos.
Truth be known, I’d much rather be outside

It seems interest in the SOU 4501 videos has tailed off.
But since there still may be someone interested in seeing them, I’ll continue to post them as I get them uploaded.

Thank you Ralph , I never tire of 4501 videos .
“EVERY” time 4501 operated here on the St Louis division and especially the EB , Evansville branch , I was either on the train , filming the train , or just around it all that I could be !
4501 actually was working on the St Louis Div into Evansville , way back when it was all steam operations , when I was a kid with my father , train watching .
Yes the whistle is special to hear .
Thanks

Dennis,
You might like this one.
Tunnels are always cool

This video is shot a little farther away from the train.
It’s hard to find locations where you can back off the tracks a bit.

And probably just as hard finding spots with no crowd in front of you…

As usual, I try very hard to find a spot or two that the masses have overlooked

This next video is from the same location as the first video I posted. Different weekend. Slightly different camera location and aiming.
The engineer saw me up on the bridge, and smoked me out good
As usual, watch full screen and in HD if you can.
