Large Scale Central

Southern 630

I hope everyone had a happy Father’s Day Sunday  I spent my day taking pictures of the Southern 630 excursion trips from Spencer to Barber. Ralph Here she is in all her glory at Spencer waiting to start the last excursion run of the day.

Entering the Wye at Barber Junction.

The first leg of the Wye.

Backing through leg 2 of the Wye.

The 630 is now turned.

And highballin past Barber Junction on it’s way back to Spencer

Here’s the video.

Nice…and probably one of the better versions of Orange Blossom Special that I’ve heard.

Who was the fiddle player?

Why, that’s the Hoyt Axton Band! Can’t you tell? :stuck_out_tongue:

Dennis Fetchet.
Believe it or not, he played “Orange Blossom Special” with the fiddle behind his head.
The story goes that Hoyt Axton seen him play OBS with the fiddle behind his head and hired him on the spot

I spent Veterans Day in Chattanooga. Got a few pictures of Southern 630 northbound. I was hoping to get some more pictures on it’s return from Harriman, TN. However, they must of had a few problems and returned two and a half hours late…after dark. I did get a nice surprise and catch the Central Railroad of New Jersey Heritage unit. Also quite a few other freights. Chattanooga rails seem to be pretty busy  Ralph
