Can someone recommend a good source for extremely small chain? I’m going to redo the spout mechanism on my water tower and want to use thin, flexible chain this time. The thread I originally used became stiff and frizzy.
Ozark also has a some thats good for that.
I get a lot of chain at garage sales, cheap necklaces work great , with some repaint.

Mine came from the kid’s rack by the jewlry counter at Wal*Mart.
Victor Smith said:Ozark is $2 something a foot, or 5 feet for $9 something....The down side is you'd better order a lot of other bits n bobs to go with it because the standard shipping is $6

Another question: On old narrow gauge flat cars, how did they tie down loads? I don’t recall seeing any cleats.
Spiked a bit of blocking to the deck, fore, aft and to either side of the item to keep it from sliding. then chains. You dropped the end of the chain with hook down through the stake pocket, pulled it up on the outside and hooked it on top lip… That way gravity helped keep it hooked if the chain got a little loose. Truckers used to still do this on flat trailers with a wood deck.
