Sound of Steam at Edaville RR 1980's

I don’t remember who originally posted these over at MLS. It might have been Matthew (OV) - it’s been too long and the archives are gone so I can’t search.

I ran across the CD I made from the posted clips. I think I’ll play it in the outside speakers for ambiance when I take video of the railroad.

Here is a short sample - turn your volume up load. These are little 2 foot engines sporting big main-line steam whistles

Thanks to whomever it was that posted these long ago.

Cool!

I love audio recordings of steam trains. I have a bunch of them that I bought on tape back in the early 80’s. My favorite is one with sounds of Colorado narrow gauge. I don’t remember the name of it and it’s no longer in the original case, but it had a little bit of professional narration introducing each clip. (My friends always got a laugh out of the line, “Even the humping of a caboose sounds exciting.”)

Yep. Those were mine. Fortunately the fellow who was going to put them on CD for me from the original tapes posted those online before he moved away and disappeared. Lost forever is my set of Valley Railroad oddities…

But that set of Edaville recordings came from a tape they used to have in the gift shop… the first track is about an hour of night running (somewhat compressed) and the rest is from Railfan day. (There are also a few lower quality recordings toward the end with some runbys that are actually ME on the whistle…)

Memories. It’s all gone now, at least as we knew it.

Matthew (OV)

Matt - I have the whole set, about 6 tracks. Two are named “Personal Side One and Side 2” , 3 short ones named “Edaville 2-N” and one named “Edaville Railroad Side 1 compressed”. If you are missing any of them I’d be happy to get them back o you.
