Does anyone have a source for small gears? I’m looking for something that would fit a 1.5mm shaft. I would be buying a dozen at a time, at most. Everything I’m finding on Google is for bulk supply.
Burl,
Look to either WM Berg https://www.wmberg.com/ or SDPI http://www.sdp-si.com/. There are a couple of hobbyist specific sites I have seen posted here and the other site. Hopefully someone will pop in with those sites as well.

Well, I haven’t ordered from ANY of these guys, but I do have them book marked for some crazy reason (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)
Boston Gear: https://www.bostongear.com/products/open-gearing/stock-gears/spur-gears
Amazon (Wow! How did THAT ever get bookmarked???) https://www.amazon.com/b/ref=as_int_sb?node=16412081
SDP/SI: http://www.sdp-si.com/
I remember WAY back when building a science fair project in HS, I found a bunch of gears at a junk shop - SO LONG gone it’s crazy… Good Luck!

Yeah you are probably right Bruce but all I can offer is Rooster advice and I’m sure the old “wells” are filled with them.
Can’t vouch, but I’ve also been on the look out, but my needs are simple and plastic will do.
This used to be my go to source;

They provided the parts for my On3 tow truck 20 years ago …
Bruce beat me to my only recommendations, Boston Gear and SDP/SI.
I want to thank everyone for their help. I was hoping to find metallic gears, but apparently they do not exist in the size I’m looking for. When I started looking for plastic gears, I had better luck. I would also add NWSL was very helpful.
I was going to suggest NWSL but you already got that advice. Another idea depending on the use is to have them printed. I would have to go back and figure out how and what I did but there is a site that allows you to design your own that was very easy to use. And then I had a friend print them. This was for a drive gear on a Bachmann loco that was notorious for breaking. Well mine were printed in not the best material and still break but I have several made at once. John C and I have discussed the possibility of having them printed and then have them cast in brass by using the plastic ones as the masters and then just burning them out to make the molds. An unproven theory but maybe a solution to the small batch problem.
Jiro on facebook makes various gears in largescale.
