SOS SOS SOS HELP NEEDED SOS TE 5471 RECIEVER

THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE TIME OF YEAR TO SHOW OFF OUR PRIDE. N JOY. No wonder why I like that this scale is dying. another blown internal fuse in the older version, okay go inside unsolder the fuse (Stupid design on Aristocraft’s) still not working But what I can do starting from left to right : output to track. 1 2 input 3 4 (+) if I wirer it correctly doesn’t work at all. but if take a test light I can jump the input #3 (-) to the #1 out and works just find, if I do the opposite it does. these were working find and I haven’t had any types of situations with the new power supply with to much power to burn things up. This is really the bad side of the hobby I need these fixed HELP HELP please. I have called the number for Navin from the gentlemen in Vail AZ , but it is also the holiday season. I need and want it now. PLEASE but I do understand the song, " But, You Can’t Always Get what Want," You almost have to be crazy not to have remote wireless control to follow and watch your MONEY rolling down the tracks, if something should happen ALL STOP is very and most needed then, running to your control panel to kill very thing, by that time it may be too late.

Also I did buy these off of (yes head down in shame) EBAY

Jim

If you don’t have one put a fuse in line on the track output and try it again

Jim, why do you say this is the bad side of the hobby? Frustration, or are you pointing at Aristo? This is why the hobby is dying? I know you are new to the hobby, or at least the forum, but you bought USED equipment.

Used equipment is, well, used.

I wish you the best of luck, but don’t think that used Aristo equipment is representative of the state of the art of the hobby.

Regards, Greg

Sorry guys it’s probably fustration. However it seems to dying off due to the lack of availibity. And aristocraft closed it’s. USA is okay. I did in contact with Navin, but wants to sell me 237 dolls new unit. I can’t do that. There has to be away to fix the problem. So a in line fuse and by pass the intrenal fuse. More suggestions please will be very help and apreciated. Greg may I side message you please.

No Jim

The suggestion of the inline fuse was to eliminate the possibility of the track or the loco causing the blown fuse. If the inline fuse doesn’t blow and the internal one does then I’m guessing that you have a bad receiver. Unless them older units have an added on fan but I don’t think they do. I know I had a fan once that was causing mine to continually blow fuses.

The Chinese didn’t make parts, back when these were being made, repair folk cannibalized working units for parts.

There are no sacrificial units today.

By the time you find an electrical engineer willing to try to fix it, that 237 would have been cheap.

You gambled on a cheap fix… guess it’s back to ebay for round 2.

Good luck, but there is a reason to move on to a more reliable unit. They thought the Edsel was a good idea too!

Hopin’ for a Happier New Year.

John

There are newer plastic cases of the receiver and these will work with most transmitters.

Only one I had issues with was the Korean version for programming.

So, there were 2 versions of the metal case and at least 3 versions of the plastic case.

Transmitters came in 2 versions of the 2 track, Korean with single frequency and non-Korean with 8 selections inside for frequency.

2 versions of 10 channel transmitters, one with on-off button other was always on.

Some dealers may still have the 10 channel in stock but these are not cheap.

Dan, I see you have some pictures of the older units, I’d love to document this on my site.

If you have some pictures you can share I don’t have, I’d appreciate it. Still missing some of the accessory boxes too.

Greg

G-Scale Graphics has a $209 dollar alternative to the original Crest TE

Greg, I have the older unit and I can take more pictures and I have the plug in accessory for that unit also.

The original Aristocraft metal case receiver had a socket on the front for the accessory add-on.

I’d love those pictures. Often when help is requested, pictures are the only way to identify which unit is which. I have seen pictures with the DIN socket.

Any high resolution pix would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks, Greg

Greg . Am also an organist at work and will have better pictures for you. I know looking for some. I really figure something out.

Greg, I’ll have those better picture for you sometime today. I know you wee asking for them

These units are no longer fixable. Navin ran out of repairs for these units sometime ago. Unless you know of a good electrical guy like Greg he may be able to fix. Later RJD

Jim, I assume your receiver is like the “metal” one on my site:

http://www.elmassian.com/trains/dcc-battery-rc-electronics/battery-power-remote-control/aristo-rc/27-mhz-train-engineer

right? That is the second version of the first trackside made, the one made in China.

I doubt it can be repaired, unless there are some obvious damaged components, and even that is no guarantee it can be repaired.

Greg

i was able to fix one and place a fuse on the outside of the case. The other one not receiving a signal can’t figure it out.
