Large Scale Central

Something to chuckle about

Hi all,

Several months ago I came across this write-up that poked good fun at the “relative” adherence to prototype at Märklin.

As you may have read, Märklin got sold to an investment company and that’s what triggered my memory regarding the write-up.

Anyway, I asked the German author for permission to translate it - permission granted, apparently he has a very good sense of humour.

Now be warned, those who think that manufacturers (Large Scale or any other scale) are doing just a wonderful job, you don’t need to read it. You wouldn’t get/see the humour. The rest of the crew, the translation is in this thread.

Happy reading!!

Highly interesting…

I kept seeing the name “Buck” or something like that on my screen as I read that…or “Co”…

Gadzooks, the similarities…

Hi Dave,

Uncanny, aren’t they?!?

I’m not sure I understand the humor?!?

I dunno, I think that’s fantastic!

I’m just afraid someone in New Jersey will get hold of this … of course it’ll take a very BIG shop to jack up a Dash 9 …

George Orwell would love it … correcting of historical “errors.” Abraham Lincoln said, “Fellow Citizens, we cannot change history …” what did he know?

Too funny, Hans!

JJ,

Sorry, I’m absolutely incorrigible.

Grew up with a satirical magazine - Der Nebelspalter ( loosely translated as “The Fog-Disperser”) - as reading material and it’s been downhill ever since. Since we have one or two participants on this forum with equally “jaded views” I figured it would fit. Sorry!

Hans ,
You just keep finding bits like that for us to read , I thought it very funny . But I suppose I am peculiar , like you .
Mike

sounded like they had interviewed most of the model mfgs but chose to hide them behind one sacrifical lamb.

I thought it was spot on…

Andre’

…very good…
