Something Different Every Day

I’ve been managing a marina in Southern Illinois for over 19 years. You would think I’ve just about seen it all. Today was an event. I got to work about the normal time and was greated with the report that I had a guy running around in a loin cloth. Yep, flap in the front and flap in the back. Said he was going to the camp ground to set up a TeePee. And you guys think this job could get kind of dull and boring.

Decided to contact the Corps of Engineers and let them make the decision. They first ask me if he had on anything under it and I said I thought I’d leave that investigation to them.

People say I should right a book. This may have to be a chapter all to itself.

Was it Andy?

Not this time…

Once while sitting beside a campfire along some railroad tracks, a nude man comes walking up the tracks twirling a parasol.
Fortunately for him he walked right on by us and we had a nice laugh and a good story to tell.

But Ric, did he get to set his tent up?

I don’t know. Don’t want to know. Saw same guy today, he had shorts on.

The only thing that kept me in the Navy for 20 years was to find out what foolish thing would happen tomorrow. I was never disappointed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Heck, no, he's a gandy dancer ...

After 16 years of working 911 I thought I had seen alot…then I started working as a Skiptracer for a national autofinance company…some of the excuses I come across…

True story. Happened about an hour ago.

My son Matthew works for the D.E.P as a lifeguard in the state park around the corner from our hose. The park rules include no pets Today Marilyn was driving him to work and they stopped at the corner deli to pick up breakfast. A family from NYC comes in, buys a Styrofoam cooler and takes it out to the car. There they cut in a few air holes, put there small dog in and close it with a belt :o

Of course on seeing this Matt calls ahead to the gate to alert them to the canine stow-away. Depending on how the state wants to play it, these folks will be turned away at the gate (after diving 75 miles), or they will be let in, then busted for doggy possession, given a big fat fine and ejected from the park by the State Police.

I’m sure Bart, Ric and Matt could trade stories for hours

The medieval themed camping event I attend annually has several “ahem” men that dress in loin clothes. Of course there are the women that dress in bunny fur too. much more entertaining in my humble opinion. Neither of which are very “medieval” I might add.

I hear you! I spent most of my adult life with the government in some capacity. Military (Navy, National Guard, Army Reserve), Department of the Army Civilian, Department of the Navy Civilian, Navy Contractor.

If I had the writing skills I’d sit down and write a book that would become a best seller, a TV Series and a movie.

It would definately be of the comedy variety. Some of the stuff is so stupid though that it qualify as a tear jerker for those that aren’t aware of what goes on in the government.

TRUST ME…I USED TO WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT…

Rudy and I sound like we are bashing the Navy. We are not. The same foolish things happen everywhere. Just look at Congress!
