Large Scale Central

Some new(?) Christmas "G Scale" trains

For those who receive the “Historic Rail” train mailed flyers – anyone subscribing to Garden RR or Model Railroader likely gets it – here’s some items that are new to me. Your take?

(page 62 -63)

1 - Lionel Polar Express G Scale set - $129.00

This one is with a 2-8-2 loco - battery powered-- "can be run remote controlled."
Comes with two passenger cars and track.

Q: Is this loco promising using the same or a different motor? Is the loco size useable?
Photo looks interesting – In short, is this a loco that could be adapted to our use?

2 - Pioneer G Scale Train - $265.00
4-6-0 B’mann. Looks like the same first years ago “Big Hauler” battery powered loco.
Offers a “lifetime limited warranty” – interesting claim for warranty.

Q. Is there still production of this famous “D” cells loco with the load 'em up like-a-pump-shotgun in the boiler feature?

3 - North Pole Special Set - 349.00
4-6-0 B’mann. Looks like a model that may have been at Sams.
Two freight cars and a baggage passenger car.

The first item, IMHO, is not usable for anything other than maybe a kid’s toy.
I saw one down at MLHS and wasn’t impressed.
It isn’t hardly even “G” scale.

well JB sent me a box of stuff, that I received today-Many Thanks, will send postage first of week…

now what to do with all this stuff?

cale

scrap yard?

Yer welcome, Cale.
Better late than never, I guess.
I spent the summer and fall building my layout, and started to clean up the shop.
Then I found the box of stuff and remembered I was 'sposed to send that months ago.
“Old Timers” disease.

Want some more?

Those two Bachamann sets seem to be priced high considerning you can get them for under 200 bucks and some cases under 100

“Historic Rail” sells their items at MSRP, that is why they are higher then other places.
