Some light weight reading

Hey,

In doing my research I came across a treasure trove of online resources for old railroad manuals and stuff. If your researching a prototype you may want to check this out.

i tried to make the link not break, but the editor converts the html escape code back to characters, then breaks on the "tilde"

Greg

I will try to get a proper link. Its full of great info so those into research should be aware of it.

Also just discovered that Stanford has most all of the Official Railway Equipment Registers in hard copy. Now I just need someone near Stanford that would like to earn a few bucks doing some RR research for me.

Devon,
I’ll point you to the St. Louis library that I told you about before. They have quite a few ORERs that are available for ILL. I have 1970 or 71 ( I forget what year at the moment), if you need something from that time frame.
For those of you that don’t know, here’s the link.

I must have missed you telling me about that. You gave me so much I am not surprised I missed something. I’ll check out what they have but 1970 is way to new need to go back 100 years well 80-90 anyway.

The older ones might not be on ILL, but it’s worth asking! They might be on microfilm?

For those that don’t know what a ORER is, it lists every piece of railway equipment available for interchange for that particular time frame. It is organized by road name, car type, and gives other critical information such as weight, height, etc.

Lets try this link instead

yeah thats weird it keeps breaking it. So I don’t know what to say other than copy and paste the whole thing into the address bar.

Try this:

Awesome thanks Kevin

Devon,

Depends on which browser you’re using, on mine (OPERA) the TinyUrl has a separate, very prominent bookmark.
