Since I’m rc/battery I have never been concerned about soldering. But never say never! I have a couple rail joiners that like to move so I want to solder them. How can I do it without melting the tie strips?
Use a little “JB Weld”, shouldn’t melt your ties.
Thanks Ric. Good, non-tie strip melting solution!
Big soldering iron…lots of heat FAST, get it soldered then get off it
You could just invest in a few rail clamps. Epoxy will be a real pain to remove later.

Heat removes most epoxy, JB Weld is tougher than other but still removable. A rail clamp would work also. So would drilling and tapping the track like Aristo. JB Weld is available at any auto parts store, the other stuff may take a little speciality hunting. In this case, there are many solutions to the problem.
I would use rail clamps but the shop that has them is 50 miles away!
Give them a call and see if they will drop them in the mail. That would be a whole lot cheaper than gas.
At least our trains don’t use gas!

Some modelers I know have lots of gas to spare…
I’ll invite them over to put gas in my tank!
Be sure to have a good, hot pot of chili on the stove when the arrive…
If it cools off a little more on the desert it will be time to make chili!
