So Much For Christmas

Saturday went to pot. Had the Christmas train going for hours with no problems. Stepped away for a few minutes and came back to a train wreck. Had the same problem friday and could not find the cause for it. Figured it’s one of those flukes that happen on occassion. Continue and move on. Now yesterday it happened again. Only happens though when I have the train going through the switch to the Dogtown siding. Picture says it all. I could not have staged it better if I tried.

I coupled a string of cars from another road to the engine and ran it for hours again going through the siding with no problems at all. Guess I’ll put the Christmas cars out of service with a maintenance mystery tag on them. Yellow don’t mix well with Christmas though :frowning:

Rudy - my take on this is that the Grinch is responsible - he sees you having waaaaaaaay too much fun there, pal!

I had the same truble last year. I changed out the couplers and thhis year everthing has (kknock on wood) worked great. I find that hook and loop to work better for me then the bmann couplers. good luck. yellow cars ok yellow snow not ok.

Oh Man next there will be “FIRE” hah LOL The Regal

Rudolf, Just a thought, but do the yellow cars have problems when going the other way? Looks like the Christmas set was going left to right and the yellow set was right to left.

How can one tell which way the Christmas set was traveling when the engine is in the middle  I think Rudy is a bit of a prankster ;) Ralph

David:

Both trains were running clockwise. 80 percent of the time I run counter clockwise because things seem to work better. I’m not sure if the problem was derailment or the Aristo couplers that usually work well. I’m thinking that either there are hidden problems with the red cars or a red car that derails going through the switch or a coupler that opens. I havent been able to pin it down.

I stand completely innocent of any pranking or devious staging of train wrecks. The only staging I’ve ever done on the railroad is with matches or scantily clad women

Notice the engin is in the middle of the Christmas train. Looks like a coupler problem to me.

Check the gauge of the wheels, one may be off.
