Snow Removal

Suleski Transportation wants to let all its customers know that our snow plow extras are keeping our lines open. Unlike the MBTA we won’t leave you stranded. We are running 7 plow extra crews fighting the best Mother Nature can throw at us.

ST Snow Plow extra

Our crews have been running plow extras for the past 3 weeks to keep the lines open.

During this past 3 day storm we did get a few hours of a break in the snow fall so we thawed off the equipment.

Of course for those with no imagination - this is what it looks like in Amesbury, MA:

Great news. Nashoba Valley Transportation Company has suspended operations, due to the unprecidented 101+ feet of snowfall this year. We hope the line to be clear by the operations weekend in August.

I think there’s an outfit over in Jersey that is in limbo because they cant plow their own RR (Cause they don’t have one) that may be willing to help you.

One can indeed only hope. In the meantime, there’s the shovel … (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

Best place to be is in the warmth of the sand house, sucking on a bheer or three, and chatting with friends. Better still, join the guys in the LSC Chat room…the bheer is free to visitors, compliments of David Russell, Dave Marconi, and me. Bob might even provide a shot or two of good Whisky…

The SJR&P has also suspended operations till mid March. In the interum the shop crew is busy working on the locomotive fleet and the construction crew is busy building several bridges including the 330 ft Tuolumne River Bridge. Since this bridge is in the middle of the main line crews will likely have to build fires to thaw the area in early March so that construction can be competed.

All I can say is, better there then here…

LOL Bob. The Pittsburgh and Castle Shannon doesnt yet own a plow. so we have suspended operations too.

We cant even see any evidence that there is a Garden railway, let alone a 18’ x 8’ koi pond somewhere in our yard!

Don’t even know where to step if we venture out back!

And another 12+ inches due for Thursday!!!

Nice pictures Scott and welcome to LSC. No snow out in our area only rain and lots of it. I’d rather have the snow I can at least get out in it.

Chuck

So Scott, are you still excited about that new snow blower? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

RCRR is offline until the “kid’s” luge run melts…

Randy I think I know what outfit that is. Ill have to reach out to them. Might take a few days I have to snowshoe out to the backwoods boys to get the message.

Trains…

I have to snow blow for the Gang!

With over 3feet of snow…they need all the help they can get!

No I can’t even find my layout!

You had me fooled Scott.

That is a nice looking wedge plow. Did you build it?

deleted. Have to relearn how to load pix.

Snow? Heck, we had 8 feet of it in Snoevember and more since then. Not only can I not find the layout, I can’t find my shed, the garage, my truck…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

-Kevin.

Todd - The plow is built from a Northeast Narrow Gauge kit. http://www.nemodel.com/shop/Snowplow-Narrow-Gauge-Train-Kit.htm

I’ve got one in 1995 and added a thin brass piece to the blade and a 1/2" thick piece od brass inside for weight. it is well used.

I built another one in 2008 and then built 4 more from their plans using platic sheets tock.

I also built 3 side throw plows for plowing double track areas on the line.

Nice pictures Scott. Your link is broken. There may be a problem with the editor’s Insert Link. Try typing it in plain text.

There was also plans for that plow published in GR mag about that same time. That’s what I used to build mine.
