Smoking Hudson Run

Great weather today for Dec in Nebraska, got up in the 60’s. Pulled out the MTH Hudson and UP cars and had a good time. Really like the MTH trains, nice detail/smoke/sound. The DCS system can be a pain at times, but usually works out okay. 30’s tomorrow!

Thanks Joe, I tried that twice, could not get it to work, for some reason.

Here’s a short video of the run.

Jerry-
Thanks for your photos and video – wow! your loco really smokes!
Are you using any “special” smoke fluid – say, chicken oil or something exotic?
My USA diesels don’t produce anywhere that amount using either the standard RR brand fluids, or lamp oil. All of this considering the diesels have two smoke units operating simultaneously.

Any insights?
Thanks.

Merry Christmas!

Wendell

Beautiful!

The only Hudson I’ve ever seen over here in yUK that smokes like Jerry’s was a USA Trains version running on DCC.

Your railroad and the loco is looking great Jerry. Pleasing to hear of nice weather where you are considering east and west of you seem to have had some snow.

Looks good Jerry. You need to make some movies. You have a nice layout for it. Its easy with windows movie maker etc… If you want take a bunch of clips and send them through dropbox or something similar and send them to me. I would be more then happy to put something together for you.

Jerrry that loco looks like it smokes more than your LS Mike. Great shots. Thanks dor the pics. Later RJD

Brings back the memories of my MTH Hudson’s New Years Day running–was so realistic with the volume up and the amount of smoke, reminded me of standing next to Steamtown NHS’s 2317.

Great running, photos and video!

Thanks guys, was fun!

Wendell, I use JT’s Mega-Steam smoke fluid. www.megasteam.com Not sure if it’s any better than any other, but works good for me. I got the Coal-Fired scented smoke, they have a bunch of types. Plus they take Pay-pal.

I think most would agree that MTH’s smoke units put out the most smoke. My Challenger does the same, as does the MTH unit I put in my Aristo Pacific. I guess the Gauge 1 units are no longer made but the O gauge ones work pretty good in our trains, so might give that a try.
