Small brass strip source?

I guess I’ve not been paying attention over the past couple years, but K&S Metals is no longer selling strip brass narrower than 1/4". I called them, and they confirmed it.

So, crap. I’ve been designing around, say, .032 x .188 or .125, because I still have some from K&S, but can’t get any more now.

I’d have expected that someone overseas would pick up the ball, but I haven’t been able to find anything narrow, with thickness like .016 to .032.

After discussion with Al P., I’m considering getting a shear. And Al’s helping me get by for now by shearing some for me. But before I get my own shear… has anyone found a source for small strip brass, now that K&S has abandoned it?

I get all my small metal from Macmaster Carr

Problem is, the thinnest they have is 1/8"

I do as well. First place i checked. But they don’t have it either.

Have they developed a method to shear small thin strips without producing a curve/twist in the material?

Would these be options?

I found a company online that will do custom brass lasering.
Not sure the cost for strips but hey it’s an option…

Ooh… what about copper leaf?

Nice resource, thanks Craig.

Thanks Bill. Those would be good for bands on a wooden tank. But they’re so thin, they won’t hold their shape well unless laying flat against something. I need between .02 and .032" (.5-1mm) thick.

Go to Etsy and type in brass strips.
