Sludge Works

After doing some additional research, I can see where my first attempt did not accurately depict a glonkulator; thus many of you were confused. (Though, many more were confused before I even posted.)

Anyway, I made the corrections and the glonkulator is about as close as I can get to the real thing - remember this is a sludge works glonkulator; I think many of you were perceiving a different type; I’m thinking that it was the absence of the bucket that may have confused you, so I added that in the picture.

My window and door have some depth, so I added some 1/8" foamed PVC to the front of the building. I haven’t looked through my precision products sheets to see what I might have enough of to cover the whole building - I’m trying not to order anything extra for this build.

Fred said he wanted lots of pipes, so I started hooking up pipes to the glonkulator.

Where did you get those pipes and fittings?

Those are from Plastruct. They have LOTS of that kind of stuff. Best bet is to download the catalog - otherwise it’s pretty hard to search on line.

Actually it was the absence of the vise that was confusing things. Now it’s starting to look like something…what exactly I have no idea…

Bruce?? I love it…

Wheres the cone shaped striped twirly thing on top?

I dunno, looks a lot like the Space Coupe to me. Diet Smith’s patent attorney will be calling y’all.

Bart?? I think that’s where they put the ice in…

…and I like the bucket!! Needs some ice and brown tall neck bottles…

Found enough scraps of the cinder block sheets to get the building covered.

I’m not sure why how they came up with the name “Precision” products. Hardly precise. But, my main structure isn’t totally square either, so I guess it evens out.

The red stuff is Bondo, filling some gaps of my own making as I piece this thing together.

Not so noticeable when painted.

Looking good…

Bruce;

I think I have the chain link fencing solution…as soon as I get the parts together, I’ll try to show it…

Fred - you’re going to need a new slogan for the tank cars…

Here Come da Sludge

Nice work Bruce :]

Installed the door and window.

The door is from Scale Art Models - and is resin. I liked the idea of the red door in the building challenge, so I thought I’d go ahead and use it, even though this is WAY before the contest.

The window is from some stuff I got from Mike Oates.

I also got some vents from Fred. I drilled some holes in the sides and installed them, placing some screening behind each one.

I wasn’t sure how to do the roof, but going through some more of the stuff I got from Mike I found these really neat galvanized corrugated steel pieces.

I had never seen anything like them before; they are quite HEAVY for their size, and of course they look real.

I Googled Big River Lines (http://www.bigriverlines.com/Modelmaker/Big_River_Lines_site/BRL_Products/Products.html#anchor114497) only to find that he doesn’t make them any more. But, it’s an interesting site to poke around and he has some VERY nice tips: http://www.bigriverlines.com/Modelmaker/Big_River_Lines_site/BRRR/BRRR.html

Of course the nicest tip is that there is another place that makes these: http://www.rainbowridgekits.com/miscitemsprcing.htm

Not cheap, but they sure look neat on a building.

looking good Bruce. Don’t forget to pipe it to the pond so Fred can filter out the sludge

If I were up there, I’d probably build a pipe to the pond…too hard to figure it out from here…

I wanna see inside the control room!

Bring up some 3/4 pvc, cement, and so e black paint to the Invasion. A quick 10 minute project.
