Vic, That’s clever! One of my friends asked me the other day in an email what would happen if Mr. Zipper and myself would end up in the same room. No problem! I can outrun him at any distance.

Yep. Keep your head down. Better wear a tin helmet, too. There’s enough shrapnel flying around. Speaking of China boats, I think I might defy doctor’s orders and find me some Cutty Sark.
Hi,
there is still no evidence of Mr. Muellers 150 - 200 moulds on a boat to China anywhere. But his yarn is getting copied and spread elsewhere as well. People love to hear and believe made up stories like this.
I talked to a maker the other day. He says, production in China only makes sense, if you can sell large quantities. In Europe, more and more companies which used to have products made in cheap labour countries, started production at home again. After all, the price for labour and transport is increasing there as well.
PIKO, well known HO modell maker which just recently released their first 45mm track loco, decided to produce it in their own halls. After all, they have the machines to cast the parts and the simple loco is assembled in a short time. They gained experience with the making of large scale models, with the making of some of the simpler LGB products.
Large Scale models after European prototypes are made and sold in rather small numbers. Sometimes only a few hundred at a time. Cost of transportation plus importing taxes eat up, the savings, they made by cheap labour.
So some firms are trying a different production approach. E.g. KISS, a well known maker of O, I and IIm gauge models, have their new line of waggons made in Poland, which is around the corner from here… They are not cast from moulds anymore, but lasered or CAD milled. They lack quit a bit of details, but sell very well at the local dealers.
I wait now for the Slow Boat to China with the 150 - 200 moulds on board will hit a rock and sink. Maybe the Navy can help out with a torpedo or two. If they are well insured, the money get everybody out of the hole.
Have Fun

Does that mean you understand the PISA reference???
Consider this subject closed until there are facts about what’s going on with LGB. Until then, I’ve had more than enough, from fielding emails and phone calls, to get royally annoyed.
Done.
