Well, #45 was test-run on a break-in today. She’s complete except for the tender-mounted backip[ light which is en-route. When complete, it will be loaded up for trans-continental shipment to the Slate Creek.
sweet
OH YEAH!
When she arrives, there will be some minor additions prior to going into service. The smokebox will be graphited, the rectangular plate replaced with a round one, the whistle will be replaced, and the tender will be (re)coaled. And … we’ll have to find a crew.
The 45 is the latest in the “Jurassic Park” series of K-27 … and the Post Wreck T-Rex appears to be every bit the leviathan we’d hoped for!
Another round of applause for th CCRY shop staff!

Heh heh heh…very nice!! We (of course) will expect a full complement of pics showing all the details!
And I will not disappoint you. Also coming out this week, Slate Creek #8, but not nearly as exciting. Maybe the trains would make everyone miss the lack of scenery if I made a video…
Meanwhile…
Ok, I give up. The link won’t post.
See… DSCN2565.JPG over in my freight shed. Sigh
I like that plow…
Despite its technical problems, that K is one fantastic looking loco! Looks as good as any brass one, at least to my eye.
That unit no longer has any “technical problems”.
