Single speed Revolution

I’m looking at a revolution that only goes “48.0.” The sound functions work, but the loco always goes 48. Are there minimum and maximum speed settings somewhere that might have got set to 48?

Yes, that’s an AirWire in the background. Its loco won’t reverse.

I changed the “Speed Steps” setting, and I could go down to 40% and up past 60%. I changed them back, and I can now go zero to a hundred. I guess it was confused. I certainly was.

Boy, that probably really helped him Greg!!!

Tom, press the Menu key, find “Assign Function”, go down (down arrow) until you fine “Top Speed”, you can set it to anything from 0% to 100%. The next one down from “Top Speed” is “Start Speed”, it can also be set from 0% to 100%. The best setting is 0%. Use the “Top Speed” setting for the Maximum you want the Loco to go. This really helps when the controller is handed off to someone else to run your train (child or grandkid). That way they cannot run it so fast that it derails.

Hope this helps.

Colin, when you have known Tom as long as I have, you can pull his chain too!

I knew, with his computer background he would figure it out, and he did.

And it did indeed help him Colin, he figured it out himself.

Greg

According to the screen display max was set to 100% and min to 0% so that shouldn’t have been an issue and yes I have seen on occasion where it seems to go to the twilight zone but usually powering down and back up clears the issue.

A shortcoming I found when evaluating the Revo, I had hoped that the min/max settings and/or the speed step settings would allow me “greater resolution” if I indeed lowered the top speed… but no.

Also, I was used to the start speed being like DCC, where you can tune your locos so they just start at speed step 1, but that’s not how it works either.

Small things in an otherwise good system that fills a unique niche between basic remote control and DCC.

Greg, just to clear things up, I do not post much, but I do read all of the posts every day. When I do post I try to stay positive and help the person out not just “pull their chain”. I have learned a lot from this site and from you as well as many others. What I do not like is the bickering back and forth that some members do often. Anyway, I do understand what you were doing, it just hit me the wrong way when I posted my reply trying to help Tom. I have learned a lot from you and your website, keep providing useful information.

Colin

Yeah, Tom and I go way back… so maybe it was not obvious to others I was yanking his chain a lot. Tom was the king of “one liners” on the Aristo forum at one time, so my one line response was sort of a throwback to the old days.

Regards, Greg

When people ask, “How does _____ work?” I reply “Nicely.”
