Since this string has vered in the direction of Politics

Someone sent me this yesterday, I wish I could aay the comments are mine but they have
been creditied to Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the UK. This kind of makes up for some rather rude commnets my wife and I heard made about the US by some citizens of the UK the last time we were in Spain on Vacation.

Thought for the day:

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American
sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony
Blair’s words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his
Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:

“A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want
in… And how many want out.” Only two defining forces have ever offered
to die for you:

  1. Jesus Christ
  2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

I think that would make one hell of a bumper sticker, it may take up the whole bumper but it says it all.

About the US GI, while I have the utmost respect for that “greatest generation” of vets…

Somehow methinks the British, Aussie, Kiwi and Canadian families of veterans of Dunkirk, the Blitzkrieg, D-Day, and a few other “small affairs” during WW2 might have a disagreement with Mr Blair, we didn’t do it alone, we had some help…

Of course I realize he’s refering to Britain’s growing reluctance to participate in Iraq, but Boy!, can that comment be misconstrued…

Vic,

Remember he is a politican and theirfor not as astute to those facts. Strangely enough most of the folks we were fighting then are now allies and most of the folks that we fought to free are on the other side. England and the countries of the old British Empire have been the one big exception to that.

Strange world, now, both Bill Clinto, and Bueh Jr, have gone to Vietnam, the Germans wont fight, the best golfer is a black man, the best rapper is a white guy, and the list goes on, but the French still can not fight.

My wife told my elderly neighbor a WW II vet that she thought that we were in the middle of WWIII, his response was no honey the French have not surendered yet.

Kind of stands to reason. Right now I am not buying anything French, and no Citgo Gas as I am not contributing to the A-- Hole in Venuazula either.

Just my take on the situation. Perhaps its wrong but what the heck.

Vic, That’s how it needs to be, that way everyone can fit it to his/her very own purpose.  Whenever we get an unambiguous statement from a politician there will be a giant windstorm going one way or the other, simply from all the jaws dropping and the sudden intake of air by so many “How dare he!!!???!!!”

I had to pick myself up off the floor from laughing so hard!

The next time someone invades France, I say we let them keep it! It will serve both of them right!

I think the French attitude lately has been, “Why go fight overseas in someone elses civil war, when we have all this lovely civil unrest right at home?”

France today is really screwed up socially. Between the discontent and disinfranchised muslim immigrants and the French racist hooligans running around…yeap, like I wanna go there.

And they still wont pick up their pooch-poop on the streets!

Would that be the same A–Hole who just won a free and fair election for another 6 year term?

I view Hugo Chavez the same way I view Castro, like an annoying little fly whizzing around your ears. The fly couldnt hurt you in any way, shape or form, but just by buzzes around your ears is an irksome maddening distraction. Someone should mention to the little fly that we invented flyswatters along time ago…

Open one Wallyworld in downtown Havana, and “La Revolution” is over…

I guess it could be called free and fair, if jailing or "disappearing" all of your political opponents is considered "free and fair." Oh, wiat, it has the "Jimmy Carter Seal of Approval." I forgot. Sorry.

True, Chavez won the election, but lots of nasty demagogues have done that, by fair means or foul. He remains an ass, and not simply because of his anti-American posturing.
