Simulating crash damage

I had a big spill in my Connie build and I’m trying to figure out how to proceed with the “fix”

Here is the picture:

When my Connie took a tumble from my work bench it landed on the corner of the smokebox. As you can see in the photo, it crimpled the thin embossed styrene. I was thinking if I used some glue and simulate a welded seem over the cracks it could look like repaired damage from a previous wreck. I’m modeling early 1920’s so I don’t know if they used to weld stuff at that time.
I would rather not take off the glued on styrene sheet because I would have to start over, but it is an option.

What do you think???

I would probably just run some thin liquid cement in there and it will probably all go back together. The smokebox paint will probably cover it all up anyway…if not…add some coal dust.

Paint thick then add rust, alot, then dirt and soot. If done properly can camouflage the worst superglue fingerprint on your engines.

Thanks for the input, I’ll try it and if it looks a little suspect…then I’ll say its crash damage!!!

OK heres what ya do…glue it down as best ya can…then use some Squadron green putty on the cracks…thin as ya can with a finger tip…then while still wet use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover to polish it out…it will fill in the cracks and fillet out nice and smooth and you can even work around your rivets…don’t ask how I know…take from me…been there done that…
