Simulating concrete

looking to simulate concrete for some shop pits \ walk ares on an indoor project. Wondering what types of product or materials you folks have used. Thanks

Styrene and “Concrete” paint?

Sanded grout over mesh

Sheet PVC sprayed over with texture paint for a rough finish, can itself be painted over to alter the color if needed. Or just plain painted PVC sheet for a smoother trowel finish. Grout lines can be scored into the surface before painting or texturing where wanted.

Indoors you can glue the PVC sheet down well in a stable environment so warping shouldn’t be a problem. If there is any significant dampness then use at least 3/8" to 1/2" thick material for the floors. Acrylic (plexiglass) also works very well and can be painted as the PVC but it’s more difficult to cut to odd shapes to fit different places.

PVC textured also makes good stucco walls.

That's what I did when I built my viaduct with the walls (just concrete colored paint) no texture

Wouldn’t 1/4" Hardi Backer work?
Cement board after all.

Well, it is and it isn't. I used it for a turntable pit and it started to disintegrate after a year or 2. It's a fiber reinforced cement and it does obsorb moisture. I wouldn't recommend it for outdoor use.
