Signs of Spring

… the conservation people trapped the first bear (this year) in our neighbourhood - rummaging in the garbage bags people set out the night before pick-up. Smart, lazy bear, dumb people!

… the yellow bellied marmots have awoken from their hibernation.

… just in time …

… to be a variation in diet for the coyotes, who are getting cheekier by the day

… the pheasants and quails try to help cleaning up the yard. Dumb as ever they forget about the two Huskies, which means more feathers to be picked up.

Yep, Spring has truly arrived in the Okanagan Valley. One more sign…

… a pair of ducks hanging out near the Pizza joint in our business array.

Nah, I didn’t ask the Conservation guys if the bear was grumpy and the marmots don’t whistle “Dixie” either, but Signs of Spring they are.

Oh the other sign of spring … yesterday was members appreciation day at our XC area. Lots of fun, lots of laughs. Staff all decked out in really funny hats and one of my friends insisted that I wear his hat while he went skiing, a bit of a nuisance for skiing: a “Mad Hatter” contraption.
Another friend was of the opinion that we should have “mad hat day” more often.

“What do you mean, is any day, it’s a matter of attitude.”

All the hats: recent imports from England.

PS. Tracks were really fast and narrow, would have enjoyed it even more if it weren’t for my aching back, but I wasn’t going to miss it. April Fool’s or no April Fool’s!

Back to the grindstone! Monday, Monday!

Well, it is snowing here in beautiful downtown Deer Park.

So much for global warming! Sure could use some of that about now!

Snowing over here in Spokane too. :frowning: That darn HJ has been doing those nude dances again that Fr. Fred taught him…:stuck_out_tongue:

Yup, had to drag out the garden tractor, sharpen the blades, change the oil, lube all the movin parts, fix a flat tire, then take it for a test drive around the yard…ah, the smell of fresh mowed grass…

They're predicting snow for Thurs, Fri and Sat :( and Sunday (Easter bonnets, HAH) and Monday :(:( I have mucho yard work to do, carrying on jobs I couldn't get to in the fall.

Yes, HJ…
Spring is here in Texas…
Been in the low 80’s durring the day, mid 60’s at night…
Took the heaters out of the house, put the AC’s in the windows.
This morning on the weather they tell me going to be back in the 30’s
over the weekend!
Yup, it’s Spring in Texas!

Dave…

Today I woke up to several inches of snow. The rest of the day was spent putting up Christmas decorations and out cutting a Christmas tree. I’m busy this afternoon hanging my stockings in preperation, and HANGING THE WEATHERMAN by his toes to the top of the tree…!!!

Fr. Fred According to Warren it was a very bad mistake to teach me the nude snow dance.

Fr. Fred

You might start a New Custom here, today…instead of an Angel with a Tree shoved up her…ah, you know…we could use a weatherman and shove the tree up him!

Almost a year ago, we were looking at SPRING…I know…more than a month until April…but what the heck…the cabin fever does it to me…!!!

Fr. Fred, Hopefully there will be more snow coming our way - up on the mountain - and the skiing lasts into April. The GRR is still snowed in, the snow and ice conditions in the adjacent park are something to behold - most enjoyable if one lands on one’s ass because one didn’t fit the Yak-Traks. (Of course that happens to “other” people  ) In short Spring is quite a ways in the future! BTW cabin fever? What’s that?

Above from my “off-duty” skiing on Wednesday! If it gets any better I’ll have to quit, because I couldn’t stand it!

Let see I think there was a 1" of ice and they are still say some snow may come.

Hans, cabin fever is coused by short days, long cold spells and the need to get out side enjoy the sights and sounds of spring. Or for the ones married, the need to hide outside.

Time to get rid of the stuff…we’ve had it longer this year than what has been normal for a while…enough is enough…

Fred,

Don’t you remember the good old days?

All I know right now is that my back yard is still buried…:frowning: Cabin fever is caused by rail nuts not being able to run their trains out doors all winter. I get tired of being cooped up and I have a 7 1/2" gauge layout to build.

That is the main problem, Hans; I remember all too well, and figure that I don’t want to freeze my butt any longer…It might have been fun when I was young, but it sure doesn’t feel like fun now…!!!

Gee Warren, I remember when I worked on Mica Peak there was no spring. The snow left in late June and then it was summer.

Signs of spring? Given the potholes (sinkholes) that are already appearing, it’s going to be a banner year for shock and spring repairs hereabouts.
