Sierra sound Opto coupler

Hi folks I’m hoping someone here can help.please.
I want to use some sierra soundtrax boards with my revo train engineer.as anyone who tries to combine these will know, pcm is not compatible with sierra boards.
Would anyone have a circuit diagram please ,I realise that things have moved on but I’m hoping someone here can help.

I have the documentation, and I think I have an opto coupler board kit. I won’t be home until Tuesday, but I’ll dig it out then.

Hi Pete that would be hugely helpful
Thankyou

Are you using the Revo base unit with your track power?
That is what I have and my Sierra boards were fine but my old Dallee ones were throwing fits. I found a unit that changed the juice back to the old.
Have a look at G scale Graphics site.

I assume you mean from PWM to linear DC?

Well, if it was complete it would. I found the ‘kit’ but it has a pc board that can be cut in 3 and I seem to have lost the middle bit. Instructions are complete, and you are welcome to it.

Hi pete yes indeed i want to use some sierra boards with a revolution receiver

that would be very much appreciated sir

if it has a circuit diagram i may be able to reverse engineer it i think

Send me your address and I will ship it to you.

Hmmm . . I have a 2-6-0 with a Revo non-sound RX, and a Soundtrax Sierra card. I don’t recall it having any auxiliary boards, like the opti coupler.

Want me to take a look?

Hi Pete no its OK that’s too much bother but I appreciate it sir

It’s only taking the tender top off. I had it off the other day for some obscure reason. And now you’ve got my curiosity going. .

It has a circuit diagram in the opto board.

In looking at the manual that this is part of, there was a reference to needing the opto board due to the PWM from the Aristo Train Engineer.

This is the inside of my tender. [4 screws, no sweat.]

I got it complete from a friend’s estate. As you can see, there is no opto board. The little battery connector doesn’t even seem to be connected to anything - just above the grey wire you can see a thin black wire, which I think came from the small plug.

The Sierra sound fires up immediately when I power the system on, and I think it is getting 14.4V at the track connections (7,8.) So it thinks there is always track power and doesn’t need the keep-alive battery. And the power is a linear battery feed.
